Who we are
The 1st JMSB plays Arma 3 as a combined-arms company set a few years from now: infantry on the ground, armour alongside them, drones overhead, fires on call and aviation on the radio. Operations are built around teams that plan, move and fight together, and every operator carries a record: a rank, a slot, and the skills they have earned.
What we are
Four things we are after, and what the mod brings to them.
2040, played for real
Experimentally realistic near-future gameplay: the kit, the drones and the fires of 2040, run as tactically realistic and accurate as we can get them.
Informal
No excessive overhead and no required trainings. We take the fight seriously and the rest lightly.
Small unit, flexible
Operations built around small teams that can change shape on the night.
Highly customised
Our own mod, built for how we play, from the tablet on your map to the record that follows you between operations.
Custom built into the mod
- TACPADA custom-built tablet on your map screen: live tiles, panels and your own colour scheme.
- MessagingCustom built from the ground up: threads, radio nets and ready-made report formats, written and read on the tablet.
- Blue force trackingCustom-built tracking of friendly positions with trails, so every leader knows where their people are.
- TAC//SUPPORTA custom-built support page: transport, close air support and artillery called from a map inside the tablet.
- TAC//PACA custom-built personnel system: your rank, qualifications and awards, with orders written on the web and read in game.
- Medic evacCustom-built medical evacuation: a medic brings a fallen player back into the fight instead of a respawn.
- LogisticsCustom-built logistics: crates packed per team, resupply, and vehicle repair and rearm in the field.
What we ask
Four things. The rest is in the SOP.
16 and up
And act it.
A 15-year-old who acts 30 is fine;
a 30-year-old who acts 15 is not.
Arma 3 and a mic
A legal copy of the game, TeamSpeak 3 with ACRE2, and a microphone that works.
English on the net
Good enough to send and read a report under pressure.
Turn up, or say so
Real life comes first. Tell us on Discord when you cannot make it; letting us expect you and not showing is the problem.
How we run
Loosely, and on purpose.
Still being built. Most of what you see below is scaffolding. The headquarters, the teams and the squads were set up in TAC//PAC to put the back end through its paces: slots, radio nets, loadouts, the roster, the promotion system. They were never meant to tell anyone where to stand, and nobody is assigned to a slot yet.
We run on skills, not on a chart. There is no required training: you learn on the job, and if you want to be taught something, we will make the time. Make the rank and you can run a team. Teams are eight strong; the support team is eight shared between drones, fires and aviation. Ghost is Team 1's name for good; every other name below is a placeholder until that team has a leader, who names it.

Ranks
The ladder, and what a rank is for. How you climb it is still being decided.
- PrivateE-2
- CorporalE-4
- SergeantE-5
- LieutenantO-1
- CaptainO-3
- MajorO-4
- ColonelO-6
Promotion
Not settled yet
How we promote is on the to-be-decided list. Until it is settled, staff decide, and you start as a Private on enlisting.
What rank is for
Three things
- Running a team. Make Sergeant and you can lead one: the team-lead and command slots ask for it, nothing else does.
- In game. Your TAC//PAC rank is your Arma rank, so the chain of command on the server follows the roster.
- On the roster. Your insignia and pay grade, here and in TAC//PAC.
The mods
Our own mod and what it needs.
We keep the mod list small and modern. We are not going to add 16 GB of mods to get one rifle, and we will always keep the list as small as we can.
Ours
The 1st JMSB mod

TeamSpeak 3
ACRE2's radios run through it. You need to hear us and we need to hear you; you cannot stay in game without it. The server is 172.93.101.237.
Questions
The ones every recruit asks.
Do I need to have played milsim before?
No. Show up 30 minutes before the operation and someone will get you kitted out and on the net. The rest you learn on the job.
Is there basic training?
No required training. You learn on the job. If you want to be taught something, say so and we will make the time. Qualifications such as Medic or Joint Fires Observer go on your record in TAC//PAC once you have shown you can do the job.
Do I have to salute or call people sir?
No. Rank is there to define roles in the game, nothing more.
Can I be in another unit too?
Yes. Multi-clanning is allowed, as long as you follow the SOP and do not poach members.
What is a role and what is a skill?
Your role is the slot you take on the night: your place in the squad, your loadout, your radio nets. Your skills are what you are qualified to do, and they follow you into any slot. A qualified medic is the medic whatever slot they sit in.
Can I lead, or run a mission as Zeus?
Make the rank and you can run a team: the team-lead slots ask for Sergeant. There is no Zeus rank; if you want to build a mission within the unit's guidelines and run it, it can happen.
What do I need to play?
A legal copy of Arma 3, the mod set below, TeamSpeak 3 with ACRE2, a working microphone, and English good enough to work a radio.
